Modification & Enforcement of Family Law Orders in Temple, TX

Life changes after a family law order is issued, and when it does, the order may need to change too. We help clients throughout Temple with modifications to child custody arrangements, child support, and visitation agreements when employment shifts, a parent relocates, or a child’s needs evolve. Under Texas family law, a court may modify an existing order when there has been a material and substantial change in circumstances since the prior order was entered. We guide clients through the documentation, filing, and court processes at the Bell County courthouse to protect your rights and your children’s interests at every step.

When a party isn’t following the terms of a custody or support order, enforcement becomes necessary. We help you prepare the documentation and motions needed to bring the matter before the court, including motions for contempt and, where applicable, wage garnishment. Throughout the process, we keep you informed and work to resolve disputes as efficiently as possible, so you can focus on your family rather than the courtroom.

Comprehensive Family Law Services

Divorce & Marriage Dissolution

Divorce is rarely simple, but the way you approach it can make a real difference. Our family law lawyers in Temple focus on amicable resolutions that protect everyone involved, especially children. We encourage mediation, pursue collaborative settlements, and work to de-escalate conflict wherever possible. Texas is a community property state, meaning property acquired during marriage is generally owned by both spouses, though courts divide that property in the manner they deem “just and right” based on each case’s circumstances, which doesn’t always mean an equal split. We apply that knowledge alongside Bell County guidelines when advising on asset division.

Every family’s situation is different, and our approach reflects that. We combine legal knowledge, negotiation skill, and genuine support to pursue solutions that respect your dignity and your family’s future. Our professional relationships across the Central Texas legal community also mean we can recommend experienced mediators and court-appointed professionals when disputes need outside help to resolve.

Cooperative divorce options we offer:

  • Focus on Cooperation: We advocate for dispute resolution methods like mediation, collaborative divorce, and our low-conflict divorce approach, designed to minimize court involvement and reduce bitterness.
  • Transparent Communication: We keep you informed and involved at every stage of the process.

Child Custody & Support

Your children’s well-being drives every decision in a custody or support case. As family lawyers serving Temple and Bell County, we handle complex child custody and support matters with care, whether you’re establishing parenting arrangements for the first time or adjusting an existing order. Texas courts apply the best-interest-of-the-child standard in all custody determinations, weighing each parent’s home stability, the child’s relationship with each parent, and the child’s emotional and physical needs.

We work closely with each client to understand their specific family dynamics, then help craft parenting plans and support agreements that foster stability. Parenting plans in Texas typically address conservatorship (legal decision-making authority) and possession schedules (the physical time each parent spends with the child). We also connect clients with family counselors and community resources in Temple to support the whole family through the transition.

Our services extend beyond the initial order. We assist with post-decree modifications as circumstances change, and we handle proposed relocation, enforcement of existing orders, and parenting plan disputes when they arise. Whatever your situation, our family law lawyers bring the knowledge and strategy needed to protect your children’s future.

Protective Orders & Family Violence Resources in Temple

Protective orders are important legal tools for those facing threats, harassment, or family violence. We guide clients through every stage of the process, from gathering documentation to attending hearings at the Bell County courthouse. Texas law provides for temporary ex parte protective orders and longer-term protective orders in cases involving family violence, stalking, or harassment. We handle each matter with discretion and urgency, keeping your safety at the center of everything we do.

We also connect clients with the Temple Police Department’s victim services unit and local shelters, so support doesn’t stop at the courtroom door. Whether you need a temporary restraining order or a longer-term protective order, we help you understand your rights and the protections available to you under Texas law. Where a protective order affects custody or visitation, we address those impacts directly, keeping your children’s welfare in focus.

FAQs: Your Family Law Questions Answered

What Should I Consider Before Filing for Divorce?

Before filing for divorce, think carefully about the long-term financial impact, living arrangements, asset division, and ongoing support obligations, and how the process may affect any children involved. Early preparation matters: Texas requires a 60-day waiting period after a divorce petition is filed before a final decree can be granted, so getting organized from the start saves time later. Gather essential documents including financial records, property deeds, and account statements. If communication with your spouse is possible, open dialogue early. And if your circumstances allow, consider mediation as a constructive alternative to litigation.

Emotional readiness matters too. The financial adjustments and legal responsibilities that follow divorce can catch people off guard, and having support in place before they arrive makes a difference. We encourage clients to connect with counselors or local support groups during the transition. At Law Office of Nancy Perry Eaton, PLLC, we equip clients with resources and step-by-step planning so they feel supported and informed throughout every phase of their divorce.

I would absolutely recommend Nancy Perry Eaton to anyone. She knowledgeable, experienced and extremely personable. I could ask her any question and get valuable feedback. Anything I ever asked her for she was right on top of it. She's not some lazy lawyer charging you for ever paper clip. Her retainer was reasonable and you really get your moneys worth. She helped me come to a nice, equitable conclusion with custody and finances with my ex-husband. Definitely talk to her if you're looking for representation, you'll see for yourself.

    “I recommend this business wholeheartedly.”
Both the lawyer, Ms. Nancy Eaton, and the paralegal, Melanie Bartram, were from the start very courteous and professional in their interactions with me. They answered every single question and offered reassurances during the entire legal process. If it hadn't been for delays out of their control due to COVID-19, I believe the process would've been much quicker. They are knowledgeable and dedicated to getting the maximum results possible for the client. I recommend this business wholeheartedly.

“My struggle is over. THANK YOU NANCY, ANNA & TEAM”
Being an aunt taking care of a sibling's 4 children when they’ve passed away, had not been an easy road to travel. Since I’m not their parent I’ve been limited to all I could do for them without court orders. The youngest 3 children I was able to get situated because their father agreed to file the petition. However, the eldest child’s (Different father) situation was a bit difficult and needed a lot of work. My nephew is a type 1 diabetic, and I struggled trying to find a law firm that would help situate my urgent need to care for my nephew since the passing of my sister, and the father has never been in the picture. I couldn’t sign him up for health care and barely got by with enrolling him in school. I initially tried to use the same firm as the first 3 children to start a petition, but the lawyer quit all communication and abandoned me midway. then I tried to establish another that wanted $5000+ just to start and then do their work. My mind was going haywire. After doing further research I came across Nancy Eaton and made an inquiry about my tricky situation and instantly I felt so much stress come off of my shoulders. She and her staff were very understanding, kind, and caring. Their pricing was very affordable. I did not waste my time and money when I partnered with Nancy and her team to get a Non-SAPCR petition going and finished within a few months. Her firm's communication and support were very reassuring of their word to help get the ball rolling. Thanks to them I can now officially take care of my nephew and get him health care services. My struggle is over THANK YOU NANCY, ANNA & TEAM 🙏🏾🙏🏾
